Nature posts don’t spread awareness on environmentalism

Every year on April 22, our nation celebrates Earth Day in hopes to raise awareness of preserving and conserving our planet. However, in this day and age, Earth Day has become the excuse for people to jump on social media platforms and post aesthetically pleasing nature pictures in hopes of likes or follows rather than supporting environmental protection. Former U.S. Democratic senator and governor of Wisconsin, Gaylord Nelson became concerned about the deteriorating environment in our nation. Coming out can be found intimidating and scary for a lot of people, but is it worth it in the end? Dani Villegas, a 21-year-old college student, shares her testimony of opening up about her sexuality and the process of coming out. Don Woodford, an artist and educator, gives an artist talk solely based on his personal experience and his exhibition to emerge his audience in the rich knowledge of art to provide inspiration. From “BookTok” to Your Bookshelf

Is social media killing bookstore sales? Quite the opposite, believe it or not. “BookTok” is sending old and new books to the top of the bestsellers list changing authors careers and influencing a community of bibliophiles. “BookTok” is a community on the social media app TikTok, focusing on everything books and literature. Creators make videos about books they read that are either reviewing, discussing, recommending, or joking about them. “BookTok” now has over 41.8 billion views on the app, and is creating a real impact. Motherhood as a full-time student

At CSUSB, 63% of students are female. However, how many of those 12,167 students are also balancing motherhood? Alexis McCool, a 20 year-old sociology major, gives insight on being a full-time mom and full-time student. “It has been hard for me to adjust, but having a support system and knowing that I have people to help me has been a big help with adjusting back into school,” said McCool. Raising a child while attending college can be both a struggle and an incredible motivator. Living on campus during the pandemic

By Celeste Santarrosa and Aylin Estrada As many schools closed dorms to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, CSUSB finally granted access to their dorms once again for the academic year 2021–2022. While the coronavirus is still a high risk, for some students, living on campus is their safest option. Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, campus was a place where we could chart our course for the future. It was constantly buzzing with energy where students could have the presence of friends, obtain major opportunities, and attend on-campus events.
