Honeymoon is an exploration of the nature of consumption, and how it is romanticized and sexualized in modern society. Every day, our animal instincts are used against us to encourage us to spend. Hunger, sex, sleep, and other natural processes have been entangled with the need to make and spend money. Capitalism facilitated some of humanity’s greatest achievements but it’s starting to look like it could be our downfall. From clean running water to a constant bombardment of advertising, capitalism envelopes our daily lives and has created the framework through which we see the world. Both humanity and nature have been forever changed by the various results of overconsumption. We go after … [Read more...] about Honeymoon

Until I Embrace You Again
by Leo Fontes I will never forget the hour, The news of my 3rd blooming flower. You helped me lose sight of my sour, Delighted me proud as a tower. I smiled, I danced and I dreamed, My pain seemed to be all redeemed! My heart had ignited! It beamed! For only a moment it seemed. I held you, I kissed you, embraced you, I loved you, I wished you; I'll miss you. A flower you were in my eyes, My heart now affectionately cries. I question, I search for the why's, For comfort I look to the skies. T'was saddened to hear you had left, Heartbroken to deal with the rest. I know by my Lord you were blest, Still, pain-staking hard to digest. You came in the night while the … [Read more...] about Until I Embrace You Again
In Spite Of by Jamie Valdez
I have always rooted for the underdog- no matter if that was a small business owner, a shelter animal, or the short kid trying to make a lay-up. As I grew older that whimsical cheerleading was directed more into an activist for human rights, and then after I became a mother of 2 little girls it became an obsession for gender equality. It is too easy to turn a blind eye to injustices we see if they do not affect us personally, and I want to bring awareness to those ideas that people ignore. I want people to become aware, have understanding, grow outraged, and take action to change the … [Read more...] about In Spite Of by Jamie Valdez

With Cohen admitting, And Flynn having lied, Natalia, the Russian, May have just been a spy! When all of a sudden, Word arose, Trump had been talking, Behind private doors. Pence as his vice, Was in such a mess, And too damn embarrassed, To make an … [Read more...] about Expressions: The Fallen Holiday Angel
