Teeming with maniacal patients and demented serial killers, “American Horror Story” is back with a whole different twist for season two.
Although season two features many of the first season’s cast, this season is loaded with completely different ideas. Be prepared to see the horrifying and brutal mysteries inside the institute.
“The first episode was extremely too much, I felt like I was going insane,” said student Sandra Ruiz.
“American Horror Story: Asylum” premiered on October 17th, and begins with a newlywed couple, Teresa (Jenna Dewan) and Leo (Adam Levine), entering the forsaken Briarcliff Manor, a former demented asylum.
The episode then switches to the year 1964 when the character, Kit Walker (Evan Peters) is being taken to the asylum for being accused as the “Bloody Face” serial killer.
As journalist, Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson) enters the asylum hoping to uncover the mistreatment of patients, she is confronted with the imperious Sister Jude played by Emmy-winner Jessica Lange. In the institute you meet Dr. Arthur Arden (James Cromwell), a man who tortures and kills to find answers about a hidden lunacy that he believes lies in the human brain.
The second episode aired Wednesday Oct. 24, called “Tricks and Treats,” which is perfect for Halloween. It begins in the present day with couple Teresa and Leo. Teresa runs from the Bloody Face monster into a closet where, from a distance she is tormented by watching the monster stab Leo. The monster knocks on the closet door where Teresa hides.
As the episode flashes back to 1964 to a scene where Lana’s girlfriend hears a loud knock on the door to find that it was only her students, “Trick or Treating.” As she is showering, the character is alarmed and closes all her windows and as she turns around, the Bloody Face monster stabs her.
Meanwhile in the manor, Dr. Thredson is introduced to Kit. Insisting on his innocence Dr.Thredson diagnoses him with “Acute Clinical Insanity.”
In the episode an exorcism is performed on a child named Jed. When the exorcists leave the room he tells Sister Jude to speak to God. Instead, the devil inside Jed’s body speaks to her.
Sister Jude, outside the room flashes back to a younger, provocative Jude that runs over a girl in a blue dress with her car. While Jude is having these flashbacks the devil screams back from inside the room.
“Your a murderer!” the devil responds to Sister Jude. Disturbed by such comments, Jude enters the room and smacks the devil.
The episode only gets better as you reach the end of it and many previous questions are answered. For example, when Lana and Grace are about to escape the asylum, Kit follows behind them. Lana objects to the idea of Kit leaving the institute. Grace decides to run away with Kit. It is obvious that Lana does not like Kit and prevents Grace and Kit from escaping by screaming to the guards.
“American Horror Story: Asylum,” gained the most views during the first week according to tvbythenumbers.com. The show is known to attract many viewers, especially avid fans from the previous season.
“I’m watching this season because the last season was so good and it is around Halloween. I’m eager to see what the new season is about,” said student Kiro Guirguis.
CSUSB students can look forward to the future episodes this season. The plot is beginning to develop and questions are being answered. The ensemble cast will be sure to go deep into the viewer’s psyche and leave them wanting more.
