“Strike out” with Student Union

Bowling night knocked out all the pins Wednesday when more than 300 people showed up to try for a perfect game.

AMF Bowling Center sold out tickets Wednesday night for CSUSB students. The Student Union program board hosted the event and had an expected showing of 200+ people but ended the night with 329 individuals bowling in packed lanes.

“There are 32 lanes and six people per lane, definitely more people than what we expected,” said program coordinator Rosemary Zometa. The program board works closely with student housing and recreation sports to bring students together as a community by creating fun, unique events for students to enjoy.

CSUSB students were notified about the event through text, e-mail, both the Student Union fan page and its website.

“Because we promoted [the event] a lot, the outcome was bigger,” said student Chance Castro.

Throughout the event, students were cheering their fellow peers and giving each other high-fives.  Students enjoyed free food as well with the choice of a grilled cheese sandwich or sliders.

What also made the event fun were the cash prizes and other gifts that were raffled off to students.

The feedback from students about this event were positive. Many will most likely come out again to any events hosted by the Student Union.

“I will definitely come out again to any events,” said student Julie Rael.

“I knew there would be a lot of people, but [it] turned out to be a lot better,” said student Lee Nishanian.

Like Nishanian, the expectations of other students were more than met.

The Student Union will also be hosting more upcoming events.  One of them will be a Scare Factor, which will be held Oct. 13 between 6 p.m. and  9 p.m.  The other will be a poker tournament that will take place on Oct. 20 during the same time slot.
